Koln has signed North Korea international Jong Tae-Se from Bochum on an undisclosed fee, the club confirmed on its official website.
With Lukas Podolski ruled out for around a month the RheinEnergieStadion club is short of attacking options and has moved for the 27-year-old, who joined Bochum from Kawasaki Frontale.
Koln's sporting director Volker Finke voiced his confidence that Jong would succeed in Germany's top flight, and that the club had long held an interest in player.
"Jong Tae-Se fits the exact profile that we had sought. The player is extremely strong in the air, and has good instincts in front of goal.
"We have watched the player for a long time and we are convinced of his qualities as a striker."
Jong was part of North Korea's 2010 World Cup squad, and has played 28 games for his country.
